Kiev - Boryspil International Airport (KBP)

Kiev

Boryspil International Airport is the main airport serving Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. This airport accounts for over 70% of all passenger traffic in the country and all of its intercontinental flights. Boryspil Airport opened in 1959 but before the independence of Ukraine from the Soviet Union in 1990 it remained small, with strict limits on the amount of international flights to Kiev. After independence the government reorganized the airport and convinced several airlines to use Boryspil Airport as a hub. Since then passengers has grown steadily to over 8 million a year making this airport one of Eastern Europe's busiest airports.

How to get from the airport to Kiev city centre by public transport?

The Sky bus (bus line 322) operates a 24-hour shuttle service between both terminals and the Central Railway station. The ride will take about an hour and costs UAH 80 (about 3 US dollars). Especially during rush hour it is advisable to take this bus to Kharkivska Station (30 minutes, UAH 50) and switch to the metro to get into the city. This will circumvent the traffic jams in the city center.

Outside the terminals are official taxis waiting. The taxi fare to a destination in the city center would be around UAH 400. Most often the taxi drivers do not want to use the meter but you need to negotiate the price before departure. Do not use the unofficial taxis or touts in the terminal as they are most likely to rip you off. Taxi apps like Uber or Uklon are also very popular in Ukraine.
